Reasons to consider a Havanese Hybird

When you decide to add a new puppy to your family, there are plenty of choices that you will need to make. One of the hardest choices will be to decide what type of breed you want to look at. For some, a purebred dog is the only way to go. With purebred dogs that come from good ancestral lines, you have a reasonable idea of size, appearance and temperament of your adult dog. On the other hand, a mixed breed dog can keep you guessing until adulthood is reached.

One of the popular hybrids today is a Havanese mix. Havanese mixes can be crossed with a number of different breeds, many of which are recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club. When cross-breeding is done correctly, the result can be a dog that is less prone to genetic defects and illnesses, and combines the best characteristics from two different breeds to give you the best family pet possible.

Hybrid dogs, also known as “designer dogs”, have been catching on in popularity for some time. These dogs are different from the standard mutt in that the owner should be able to trace the lineage of the dog back to know that his ancestors were two purebreds of different breeds.

In the case of a mutt, there is no way to know for sure which breeds, or how many breeds, comprise the genetic makeup of the dog. These designer dogs have become popular because they can bring the best of two different breeds into a single family pet.

Some of the most popular Havanese mixes include the Havanese/Shih Tzu combination, which is also known as a Havashu, the Havanese/Maltese mix that is called the Havamalt and the Havanese mixed with a Lhasa Apso, known as the Hava-Apso. If you are considering one of these Havanese mix breeds, keep in mind that it is impossible to predict which characteristics your dog might exhibit. For example, you might end up with a feisty, Lhasa-like pup or a mild-mannered Havanese temperament. There is no way to know for sure.

For many folks, a Havanese mix might be the perfect choice in a family pet. You will be able to enjoy the positive characteristics of the Havanese, like the sweet temperament and intelligence, with the assets of another breed as well. You may also lessen the likelihood that your dog will suffer from some of the physical ailments that would typically plague a Havanese purebred.

If you are considering a Havanese mix breed, it is important that you search out your breeder very carefully. This will ensure that you end up with a dog that is indeed the designer dog that you were hoping for with the lineage that you are paying for. There are plenty of reputable breeders available, and you can find them through the Internet or talking to your veterinarian.

It is also important to exercise caution when you are searching for a breeder of your Havanese mix, to ensure that you will be able to accurately trace the lineage of your dog. This way, you will know for sure that your pet is the combination of two distinct and pure breeds.
