All about Bichon Frise obedience training

The best dog for an introvert will be without any doubt the Bichon Frise. This is a wonderful dog with eyes that can speak volumes and a beauty that touches your heart the moment you set your eyes on it. If you have seen or posses a Bichon Frise you will fully agree with this description. There is however, one downside to this powder puff ? as nothing in this world can indeed be perfect.

If you are a person who needs to stay out of your home for ore than three hours at a stretch on daily basis then the Bichon Frise might not be the dog for you. You will also need to know that in spite of being such sweet pooches, the Bichon Frise obedience training is quite tough. But training is not impossible with patience, consistency and positive reinforcements.

Bichon Frise obedience training needs to be done as early as possible, preferably as soon as they turn three months old. In most cases, knowing that they have a stubborn streak, it is better to hire a professional trainer for this purpose. You need to ensure however that the method of training follows positive reinforcement rather than punishment, as the Bichon Frise gets upset by negative behavior.

Another aspect of obedience training is checking it barking tendency. Bichon Frise dogs are extremely cute animals, however their bark is high pitched and can set your (not to mention your neighbors) teeth on edge if you are exposed to it for too long.

The third part of the training should cover socializing. These dogs are normally shy and introvert. They prefer to be around their owner and do not usually like to socialize with other humans or animals. You need to be careful that they are socialized enough or you will have a skittish and hard to contain dog when in company.

Bichon Frise dogs have indeed a mind of their own and you will realize this well enough when it comes to Bichon Frise obedience training. However, the good news is that they can be coerced by love to obey more than by punishment. Bichon Frise dogs do not respond well to punishment, however they often become putty in your hands when you shower love and attention on them.

A professional trainer is always best in this case because they have well tried methods and more experience than you will have in this aspect. It will be even better if you get a trainer who has trained previously Bichon Frise dogs, as these are temperamentally very different from other dogs.

If you find that you cannot make the dog listen to you when it is about three months old, make it a point to hire a professional trainer to teach your dog all that it needed or you will have some major problems when it becomes an adult and will refuse to listen to you.
