Having a pet is a blessing in so many ways, but when it comes to travelling, you may find yourself torn between bringing your pet with you or leaving them at home. Consider your pet’s welfare

First things first – plan your itinerary. You don’t have to include every single detail, but it would be very helpful to actually know what your trip will look like. Once decide what you want your vacation to be, you can also assess whether your pet will be able to handle such travels. It is true that your pet might find separation difficult, but spending hours in a confined space of your car can be even more so. On the other hand, if you simply want a change of scenery and plan on staying at one place, bringing your pet in this case probably won’t be that big of a problem. Make sure to think about the animal and their happiness and health first, before you make your final decision.

Leaving your pet at home

If you’re absolutely positive that your pet wouldn’t feel safe and happy during the travels even if they are with you all the time, you can leave the pet at home. Now, your pet cannot possibly be on their own during your travels. This means that you should hire a reputable pet sitting service that would take care of them while you’re away. Since there are plenty of agencies offering pet sitting combined with house sitting in Brisbane, your best bet is to listen to the word of mouth recommendations or look up the reviews online. Bring the person you want to hire to your home before you leave. That way, your pet can get to know them so the impact of you leaving won’t be as difficult.

Look for a new place

Apart from pet sitting at your own home, there are also numerous other options. For example, you can find pet shelters that specialize in dealing with pets when their owners are away. An even better option would be to find a temporary boarding home for your furry friend. That way you wouldn’t have to worry about your pet being neglected due to the number of animals in the shelter. Also, it’s more likely that the person you leave your pet with will be able to spend a lot of time with them. Of course, similarly to searching for the best pet sitting services, it’s essential that you do your research and leave your pet in the best possible hands and a pet-friendly home.

Taking the pet with you

If you can’t find it in you to leave your pet behind and decide that the best possible option is to actually travel together, you need to prepare and organize accordingly. First of all, take your pet to the vet. If you’re planning a road trip, make sure that you bring all the necessities that would make the ride pleasant for the animal. If you’re looking for a place to stay, consider only those places that allow pets and check the reviews of previous travelers.

Whatever you decide, make sure that you have your pet’s health and happiness in mind at all times. It’s important that you don’t show how stressed you are in front of your pet so that they can stay calm as well. This goes for both taking your pet with you and leaving them at someone else’s care.
